Song: Apples and Bananas by Raffi

Book: Ten Red Apples by Pat Hutchins

Feltboard: Ten Red Apples

Ten red apples ripening in the sunshine,
Timmy ate one and then there was nine.
Nine red apples looking really great.
Charlie bought one and then there are eight.
Eight red apples, one for Evan.
He ate it and then there were seven.
Seven red apples hanging near Rick.
He ate one and then there are six.
Six red apples ripening near a hive,
Bob took one and then there was five.

Five red apples in a grocery store,
Bobby bought one and then there are four.
Four red apples on an apple tree,
Susi ate one and then there are three.
Three red apples. What did Alice do?
Why, she ate one and then there are two.
Two red apples ripening in the sun,
Timmy ate one and then there was one.
One red apple and now we are done,
I ate the last one and then there are none.

Closing Song

Craft: Apple prints
Apples were purchased from the store, and also we found an apple tree on the library property that we used for the majority of the apples. They were cut in half and the children make prints with red and green paint. The second print is to show that the great thing about process art is the children don’t have to stick to just the apples. The second child had fun with finger painting as well!
