These are additions to the previous version of this program. The first version with different stations is at https://libraryfun.home.blog/2023/09/27/playing-with-stem-building/
Hi Everyone! This program is called Playing with STEM. It is a STEM program for 2-5 year olds. It is primarily play, because at that age, I just want to make science, technology, engineering and math fun!
In this program we learned about building. There were stations all around the room that the kids visit with their parents. Each station had a sign to give some instructions and a fun fact. Here are the building stations:
Build A Skyline
The children used LEGOs in a math activity. The goal was to build a skyline of different tower heights as listed on the baseplate.
Based on https://preschoolvibes.com/printable-downloads/build-a-city

Balancing Tree
The children balance birds on this tree toy.
I checked it out from a local library, but it also can be found here.

Cardboard Blocks
The children built with these large cardboard blocks from Melissa and Doug.

Drill Design
To work on building skills, the children used the Create & Design Drill Kit from Lakeshore Learning. They used a manual or electric screwdriver to make a design in the baseplate.

Rocket Train Helicopter
The children used one of eleven pieces to make a transportation item. I checked it out from a local library, but it also found at Learning Resources.

Wedgits Building
The children used Wedgits to build.

The kids had a lot of fun building.
