Playing with STEM: Games

Hi Everyone! This program is called Playing with STEM. It is a STEM program for 2-5 year olds. It is primarily play, because at that age, I just want to make science, technology, engineering and math fun!

In this program we talked about games in honor of our summer reading theme, all while playing and having fun! There were stations all around the room with instructions that children and caregivers could play together. This month’s stations were:

Matching Game
For our summer reading theme, we had video game matching.

Simon Says
The children played with the Simon. This game plays a series of sounds and the player needs to repeat them in the correct order.

Quirkle
The children played the Quirkle game where the colors and shapes heeded to be put in series.

Robots Report
The robots were placed in order on the series strips by the children in “robots report”

Connect Four
We have a large size Connect Four game the kids and adults could play together.

Candyland
The children played Candyland using foam tiles and extra large cards. They were the pieces.

Ocean Counting
The children counted the ocean animals, then lifted the flap to find if they were right.

Bozo Buckets
The chi

Blast Off
The children used small air rockets to blast off and try to land on the planets.

Leaf Attributes
The children sorted leaves either by type or size.

Keepy Uppy
The children kept the balloons up in the air. It was a little chaotic, but they loved it!

Ball Toss
The children practiced their physics with ball tosses.

The kids had a lot of fun with all the different stations!
