Cookie Storytime

There are a lot of good ideas out there for a cookie storytime so I had a hard time deciding what fingerplays and songs to use! The kids liked the feltboard a lot. I keep trying new ways to do Little Mouse!

Feltboard: Who Stole the Cookie…
Place a bunch of animals on the feltboard and hide the cookie behind one of them. Name the animal then reveal (or have a child reveal) if the cookie is hidden behind them.

Who took the cookie from the cookie jar?
_____________ took the cookie from the cookie jar!
Who, me?  Yes, you!  Couldn’t be! (reveal if the animal has cookie)
Then who?”
(Keep going until the cookie is found)

Song: Put Your Cookie in the Air
(give each kid a cookie)

Put your cookie in the air, in the air.
Put your cookie in the air, in the air.
Put your cookie in the air, and hold it right up there.
Put your cookie in the air, in the air.

Put your cookie on your cheek, on your cheek.
Put your cookie on your cheek, on your cheek.
Put your cookie on your cheek, leave it there a week.
Put your cookie on your cheek, on your cheek.

Put your cookie on your nose, on your nose.
Put your cookie on your nose, on your nose.
Put your cookie on your nose, and see if it grows.
Put your cookie on your nose, on your nose.

Put your cookie on your ear, on your ear.
Put your cookie on your ear, on your ear.
Put your cookie on your ear, and leave it there a year.
Put your cookie on your ear, on your ear.

Put your cookie on your finger, on your finger.
Put your cookie on your finger, on your finger.
Put your cookie on your finger, leave it there, let it linger.
Put your cookie on your finger, on your finger.

Fingerplay: Making Cookies
I am making cookie dough. (hold out arms in a circle, like a bowl)
Round and round the beaters go. (roll hands)
Add some flour from a cup. (shake a pretend cup)
Stir and stir the batter up. (stirring motion)
Roll them, cut them nice and neat. (rolling pin motion)
Put them on a cookie sheet. (place pretend cookies)
Bake them, count them 1-2-3. (counting motion)
Serve them to my friends for tea. (take a bite!)

From sunflower storytime.

Closing Song

Craft: Decorate a Cookie
We cut circles of paper and let the children decorate with triangle chocolate chips or little pieces of colorful paper as sprinkles.
